Production over the centuries

In the years 1920 to 1950, the Quinta da Estrada its land had a location that went from the 70 meters altitude up to 450 meters, produced in addition to the wine, cereals, maize, rye and barley for the manufacture of bread and food for the animals.

There has always been production of top quality olive oil.

Our vineyards

The location The house is in Poiares, the land with location in 3 places Abaças, Poiares e Covelinhas.

Covelinhas:
Area: approximately 18 hectares divided by the Quinta das Escovadas and Zambulheiro.
Castes: Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Francisca.
Age of vines: between 5 to 40 years existing 1 hectare of old vineyards with more than 90years.
Solar Orientation: South and West.
Altitude: 90 meters.
Characteristics: traditional pruning.

Poiares and Canelas:
Area: approximately 15 hectares divided by the Quinta da Estrada, Costa, Noval, Lamaceiro, Valongo and Tapados.
Castes: white castes Rabigato, Malvasia Fina, Códega do Larinho, Arinto and Gouveio.
Age of vines: between 5 and 30 years.
Solar Orientation: South and West.
Altitude: 400 meters.
Characteristics: traditional pruning.

Bujões and Abaças:
Area: approximately 15 hectares divided by the Quinta do Fojo, Feital and Parauta.
Castes: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Amarela, Tinto Cão e castas Brancas como Malvasia Fina, Rabigato and Gouveio.
Age of vines: between 25 and 50 years, there were 3 hectares of old vineyards with 80 anos.
Solar Orientation: South and West.
Altitude: 450 meters.
Characteristics: traditional pruning.
Wine House:
The transformation of grapes into wine on the Quinta da Estrada is done using the knowledge left by our ancestors. Its stage and storage is made in French oak barrels and stainless steel vats. Always adapting our production to new technologies, without forgetting the most traditional methods of wine production in the demarcated region of the Douro.
