The Quinta da Estrada is located in Poiares, with House dated 1820, existing construction prior to this date, confirmed by existing documents and found in 1970, It belonged to the Pinto Barreiros family, Domingos Abílio Pinto Barreiros, having passed by inheritance to his nephew Agostinho de Lacerda Freire Pinto da Silveira, natural of Canelas, grandfather of the current owners.
From the times when the transport of wine was made in carts of oxen, there are buildings with mills dispersed by the vineyards that constitute the whole of Quinta da Estrada, where the wine was made and stored in large casks that remain in the memory of the people who dedicated the vineyard and wine in the Douro region.

José António Teixeira da Matos Lacerda get married with Margarida Fernandes Eiras in 1953, has 3 children, Maria José, Maria Margarida and José Agostinho and they live in the Quinta da Estrada with the single brothers Maria da Piedade Amaral Lacerda (Tia Piá) and António Teixeira de Matos Lacerda.
José António who revolutionized the vineyard area, directing his work to wine production, remodeling and adjusting the Quinta da Estrada to match the requests. Leaving us with a great knowledge of wine and vineyard. It installs its own winery where he produced the generous wine and port wine.
Currently José Augustine Lacerda is the one who guides the works on the Quinta da Estada.
